As the summer holiday countdown begins, I wanted to share with your my airport style hacks that will keep you feeling comfortable and looking stylish from the start to the end of your journey.
Earlier this year I had wonderful feedback from a client about the GS knitwear she wears when travelling for work.
“They are my favourite for travel and I don’t get too hot or too cold. Great for business class travel when you want to look classy but stay comfy”
Celebrities always manage to look effortlessly stylish when they walk off a plane, but if you look closer, they all have similar tactics when it comes to layering knitwear. Whether you’re flying short or long-haul, budget or 1st class, these 8 tips are suitable for all journeys throughout the year.
- The Art of layering:
Wool is a powerful natural fibre, that regulates your body temperature, keeping you cool when it’s hot, and warm when its cold. Opt for cosy knits or slouch cardigans over a white t-shirt, they are easy to add or remove layers throughout the flight. These are my favourite style below:
Natural fibres are perfect for fluctuating temperatures in the plane, then when you arrive at a blissful hotter climate, you are ready for some sun on your arms. Discover the Luxury Modern Classics , Cardigans and White Tshirt here.
2. A Large Scarf that doubles up as a pillow:
Not only is a scarf a great accessory to add a pop of colour or pattern to an outfit, it also has multiple uses. Look sleek and effortless as you travel as Kate Beckinsale above, then roll it up for a cushion on the flight, then wear over your shoulders in the evening to add a little glamour at dusk.
3. Relaxed Trousers
Let’s face facts, there’s nothing worse than wearing jeans on a flight, difficult to get comfy in especially on long haul then you just get freezing in a skirt. I love to wear my Melrose merino cashmere trousers with a twist of gold sparkle when I travel. Not only does it keep me warm and cosy, they look amazing with a fine knit or t-shirt, plus they are perfect for an evening look with heels when you arrive at your destination.
I love garments that have multiple functions, these are one of them! Shop here
4. Cosy Socks:
Keep your feet warm and cosy on board with the GS Sotolino socks, small and compact to keep in your bag when you’re off the flight. They have great stretch and recover so the fit is comfortable and isn’t tight on your ankles or calves. A wool linen blend, adds a little coolest to them – I cant live without these! 6. The Do Not Disturb Sign
The GS Eye Mask, the must-have do not disturb sign to your neighbouring passengers. I love flying because I can finally catch up with me time, and a great time to catch up with sleep after a mini bottle of vino.
First time I wore this eye mask on a flight, I was a little worried what people may think, but once it’s on you can’t see the hash lights and can enjoy the best snooze, I am totally won over! A merino cashmere jacquard, lined with silk, discover the eye mask here.
7. Full On Comfort
Effortless style is easy, especially when you are colour and pattern coordinated. The GS Loungewear set is perfect for long-haul flights and ticks all the boxes above, it’s breathable, soft and cosy, effortlessly cool. Layer up with a blazer as you check in at the airport and style with comfy flat sneakers.
Customers have sent photos to me of them wearing the Elsa trousers with heels in the evening, again a very workable style in your wardrobe throughout the year, that can be worn casually together or separately for a smarter occasion. Discover the loungewear collection here.
8. Monochrome Glamour
The celebrities that have the stepping off the plane style down to a T, is, of course, Rosie Huntingdon-Whiteley and Victoria Beckham.
A monochrome style that shows off your holiday tan, plus looks effortlessly cool.
GS Cashmere jumpers work wonders as they are made of the high-quality fibre, lightweight and breathable with subtle details to give a modern edge.
I am currently obsessed with the new Carlee Cashmere jumper in Hessian. Discover the cashmere timeless classics here.
Hope this guide helps you when packing for your next trip. All the best and happy travels, Genevieve x
