Introducing our Christmas Crackers

I’m excited to announce our first ever reusable Christmas Crackers, knitted with repurposed end-of-production yarn to offer a more sustainable way to celebrate this festive season. I love pulling crackers on Christmas Day, but hate the waste that is usually involved, so I came up with a design of a knitted cracker, which is sold with treats inside for their first Christmas but can be refilled with items of your own choice in subsequent years.

Available in two colours, our luxury Christmas crackers are knitted by myself in my Hertfordshire studio in a geometric mercerised cotton with sparkling viscose. A sustainable alternative to traditional crackers, they are crafted from end-of-production yarn to save any wastage, plus the ribbons that tie each end are compostable, made from sustainable wood sources from natural forests and sustainably cultivated plantations. The wood and pulp are harvested from certified and controlled sources. They are hand-sewn one by one, with a lot of love and care going into each individual cracker.

Inside each cracker are two gifts: a Christmas scented lavender bag and a pair of socks. The lavender is hand picked and dried by myself, then blended with cloves and cinnamon for a festive fragrance. There is a choice of two socks, both of them limited edition to the crackers which won’t be sold elsewhere on the website. Choose from four sizes in the Samar merino wool stripe socks in a custom-spun red, burgundy and blue marl or two sizes in the Selina sparkly socks in deep red with contrasting gold trim.

The crackers can be balanced on the branches of your Christmas tree or placed below it as a small gift, or they can be styled as part of your festive tablescape. If you’re planning on giving them as a gift, they arrive wrapped in tissue, ready to place beneath the tree without giving away what is inside. As pictured here, they work beautifully as part of a rustic table setting, combined with bronze plates, seasonal foliage and handmade earthenware. You could also pick out the colours of the crackers (deep green and bronze or deep red and pale blue) in your choice of table linens, crockery and decorations. You can choose to monogram the crackers for a personalised touch, choosing up to three initials that are hand embroidered by Genevieve personally.

Reusable crackers are an investment piece, especially if you have a large family, but they are a more affordable option in the long run as you can use them again year after year, as they become an heirloom piece of your festive decorations. You could also reserve them for smaller Christmas gatherings, or give them as thoughtful gifts to your loved ones (instead of providing both gifts and crackers separately).

Browse our collection of luxury reusable Christmas crackers – available individually or as pairs. The crackers arrive in a gift box, which they can be stored away in year after year. They may not have a crack and a bang, but they will still add joy to your table – and will continue giving this joy year after year. The lack of a loud noise is also much better around small children and pets!
