As seen in this week’s Pebble Magazine, the new GS Samar marl socks.
“All dads need socks, that’s a fact. And British knitwear brand, Genevieve Sweeney, make some of the finest knitted socks known to man. These hardy pairs are made from leftover yarns from their larger items, spun by hand and then made into small batches of socks when the British factory has some downtime. Each pair helps tackle the huge problem of textile waste and celebrate British craftsmanship. ”
I am very lucky to work with an amazing family run factory who gives me the time to work on projects that makes a small impact on reducing textile waste. Every couple of months I visit my factory and I spend hours spinning together leftover cotton yarns to create new and exciting colour blends.
This is something that factories would never have the time to do and yarn mills would request huge orders to create this.
I can typically make two marl colours made in a day, this is then knitted and finished to create small batches, around 30 pairs of unique socks that you would never find anywhere else.
The yarn is high-quality cotton spun in Italy, it washes incredibly well and keeps its shape wear after wear.
With contrast tippings on the heel, toe and cuff, this creates a striking modern sock with a fashion conscious!
Made in Derbyshire.
