Lightweight yet irresistibly cosy, our Alford men’s sweater is designed for all seasons. It offers a modern relaxed silhouette complete with a classic crew neckline with duo-tone stripe placement and fully-fashioned raglan sleeve detailing.
THE YARN
The super-soft wool Genevieve has selected for the Alford is locally sourced and spun by a celebrated Aberdeenshire mill. The secret to its luxurious handle is the fact it comes from the ‘first clip’ of the lamb – an initial shear known for its unrivalled softness. Finer and more expensive, it produces a garment of exceptionally high quality without compromising on its authentic Shetland character. Once knitted, it is then brushed using the teasel thistle – a rarely used specialist technique that further enhances the sumptuously soft handle.

Genevieve’s keen eye for colour makes the Alford a striking yet highly wearable piece. In this case, the deep jade green melange with contrasting rich coffee melange stripes.
SUSTAINABILITY CREDENTIALS
Completely natural and highly effective, the teasel thistle has for centuries been used to brush and soften yarn. By elongating the fibres, it not only creates a beautifully soft hand-feel, but lends the wool a relaxed and subtly felted quality that no man-made brush could match. In addition, the sweater’s fully-fashioned, seamless design not only ensures a perfect fit, but barely any yarn waste.
