This cardigan is crafted from a unique marl custom-spun by Genevieve herself that features a sartorial tonal twist of black, charcoal and mid-grey melange.

This timeless staple has been custom-spun by Genevieve in tonal hues of black, charcoal and mid-grey melange. A super-fine lambswool spun in Scotland is plied up to give a luxuriously soft handle, durability and irresistible comfort.

This lambswool yarn has RWS (Responsible Wool Standards) certification, meaning that both the sheep that produce it and the land on which they graze are actively protected. Our yarn mill only sources from farms that can demonstrate respectful animal welfare, so every sheep leads a healthy life with essential freedoms.

Here at GS, we see buttons as an integral part of any cardigan. Ours are made from sustainable Corozo and custom-dyed to a complementary charcoal grey by Courtney & Co. – the last button maker in the UK.
The buttons are made from Corozo – a completely natural and biodegradable product derived from the nuts of the Tagua Palm. This amazing tree grows in the rainforests of Central America and produces nuts without any need for human harvesting.
The unique button colours are created with eco-friendly dyes that are Oeko-tex standard 100 and AZO free certified.d, it’s such a valuable crop that the forests where it grows are being actively preserved.

Inspired by menswear silhouettes, the Alva cardigan was designed using a men’s size guide but button positioning on the womens size.
