A wardrobe saviour, our relaxed sartorial Aven cardigan is crafted to a neat silhouette finished with a deep V-shaped neckline and refined details: pockets, ribbed trims and raglan shoulders.
THE YARN
The super-soft wool Genevieve has selected for the Aven is locally sourced and spun by a celebrated Aberdeenshire mill. The secret to its luxurious handle is the fact it comes from the ‘first clip’ of the lamb – an initial shear known for its unrivalled softness. Finer and more expensive, it produces a garment of exceptionally high quality without compromising on its authentic Shetland character. The yarn has been plied up to create a heavier knit with a soft handle.
THE DETAILS
Here at GS, we see buttons as an integral part of any cardigan. Ours are made from sustainable Corozo and custom-dyed to a complementary tonal dark grey by Courtney & Co. – the last button makers in the UK.
SUSTAINABILITY CREDENTIALS
Not only is the Aven spun on British soil from Scottish yarn, it’s crafted in a way that minimises waste from start to finish. The buttons are made from Corozo – a completely natural and biodegradable product derived from the nuts of the Tagua Palm. This amazing tree grows in the rainforests of central America and produces the nuts without any need for human harvesting. Indeed, it’s such a valuable crop that the forests where it grows are being actively preserved.
