A twist on an iconic classic, our Samar Argyle sock is where heritage British manufacturing and contemporary design meet. Crafted by twisting together discontinued and end-of-line yarns using a traditional intarsia technique, the result is both striking and modern: a stylish fusion of complex diamond marls twinned with eye-catching vibrant racker stitch.
THE YARN
Made from a soft, sustainable and durable merino wool blend, these socks are custom-spun by Genevieve herself to create a selection of totally unique colour blends; in this case, a rich and unusual hue of burgundy, lilac with vibrant lime.
THE DETAILS
Not only does the Stanton provide exceptional comfort with its soft yarn and seamless construction, but the complexity of its contrast-colour design should not be overlooked. Creating this pattern is a highly complicated technique that not only challenges traditional intarsia machines but – in true reflection of Genevieve’s slow fashion values – also takes a long time.
SUSTAINABILITY CREDENTIALS
To create the Stanton sock, Genevieve approached a family-run, Derbyshire-based mill, and after spotting the unusable end-of-line yarns, decided to rescue them from simply being thrown away.
Many of the yarns were small batches of discontinued colours, so Genevieve let her creativity run wild, twisting them together and producing completely unique blends out of otherwise wasted products. Twisting the yarns together can take hours and is something most factories wouldn’t have time for; but for Genevieve, it’s all about embracing the joy of slow manufacturing – and in doing so, creating something truly original and beautiful.
