GS Sock Subscription: A Monthly Treat for your Feet

What better treat for your feet than a new pair of super-comfy socks arriving on your doorstep every month? Our sock subscription service makes a thoughtful gift, or is the perfect little luxury for yourself, curating a drawer filled with socks that you love to wear. Sign up for a minimum period of three months, selecting your sock size and whether you would prefer to receive unisex, mens or womens socks. The socks are all made in Derbyshire in a family-run mill, designed to be sumptuously soft and luxuriously comfortable. Many of the socks that we send to subscribers are limited-edition colours and exclusive designs, as well as our best-selling styles.

Where did the idea come from for my sock subscription?

A few years ago, I received a message from a customer who had been given a pair of my socks as a birthday present. I was thrilled to hear she was absolutely delighted with them, and that they were the most comfortable socks she’d ever worn. She told me that her New Year’s resolution was to only have GS socks in her collection, which made me think it would be a lovely idea to offer a subscription service for customers to gradually build up a collection of my socks. She was the first customer to sign up, and she is still receiving a pair of socks from me each month, over three years later!

Who is the sock subscription for?

I find that many subscribers sign up for themselves, but I also receive plenty of orders for people treating their loved ones to a gift that keeps on giving. You could sign up your partner, a friend or family member who loves socks as a birthday or Christmas present, for an anniversary or milestone, or to cheer them up if they are going through a tough time. Receiving a surprise parcel each month is a lovely reminder that someone cares, and offers a small moment of joy when it arrives.
I love offering sock subscriptions as I truly believe in the idea of extending the thoughtfulness of a gift beyond just one instance of giving. This is only really possible with small items, and socks are perfect as they are something that we definitely all need but often forget to treat ourselves to. A little bit of affordable luxury, if you like. In fact, many of you have told me that your sock drawers have had a serious upgrade since subscribing!

My wife kindly gifted a monthly supply of Genevieve’s lovely socks for a birthday 12 months ago. The monthly parcel has brightened my wardrobe and mood! The wool used is often super-soft (GS uses a variety of wools); the colours are bright but not garish and the socks are cosy but not thick. Which socks will I receive?

Over the years I have enjoyed evolving our service, tailoring it so that anyone can receive a pair of socks that are perfect for them, even if by complete surprise. The socks that I send out in the subscription parcels range from sumptuously soft woollen socks that have proved essential when working from home or spending evenings cosying up on the sofa to eye-catching sparkly designs that will instantly elevate any look.

In true GS style, the colour melanges are blended to reflect the changing seasons, often showcasing the striking, contemporary designs that have become a brand signature. A different pair is sent out each month, including designs in limited-edition colours, unique socks exclusive to subscribers and some of our best-selling styles such as our Samar merino wool marl socks, fine Solline silk tweed socks and sparkling Serora striped socks.

I always choose the highest quality yarns available – from luxurious merino wool to beautifully soft and breathable organic cotton – while also ensuring the highest attention to detail across every single pair. Subsequently, I’m confident that my socks will impress even the fussiest of recipients!

Where are the socks made?

My sock subscription journey has been inspired by my passion for slow and sustainable fashion. Each pair of socks is lovingly made in the Derbyshire-based family-run mill that I have worked closely with for years. Each design is only made in small batches, often using yarn left over from other production runs to save waste while also producing a completely unique colour combination every time.
