The Autumn Winter Collection has arrived
Introducing the GS AW21 collection: sweaters, cardigans and accessories that celebrate the beauty of natural wool with rich, warming hues and luxuriously cosy, tactile textures.
We have all been spending a lot more time in our local surroundings these past couple of years, and it wasn’t until I started designing this season’s collection that I realised what a profound effect it has had on me. The mile radius around my home not only provided the setting for my daily walks, but it also grew into a core part of my working life, as it is where my studio is based.
Suddenly I became aware of wanting to incorporate the sights around me into my knitwear collection. Watching the changing seasons, I’ve felt a need to become more grounded, and reconnect with more tactile textures; so expect chunky moss stitching, complex Aran cables and sumptuous brushed finishes.
I’ve found myself incredibly drawn to warm, earthy hues such as rich coffee and smoky charcoal, punctuated with unexpected and vibrant colour pops like mystical jade and electric blue. As ever, I twist these complex marls myself, creating truly unique blends only found in GS pieces. These colours don’t stop at the knitwear however, they continue through into the custom-dyed, British-made buttons of the Alva cardigan and new Fidra sweater.
By creating geometric intarsia patterns too – as seen in the new Leyden sweater – I continue to blend traditional heritage techniques and modern innovation.
I also continue to champion slow, UK-based craftsmanship and safe-guard time-honoured skills. The AW21 collection has been created by true artisans; yarn spinners, knitters and button makers. All of these people not only possess a passion for quality, but an incredible talent and knowledge, passed down through generations, that I am committed to preserving.
The sanctuary offered by my local space is also why I’m so excited to share these photographs of my new collection – all taken just down the road from my studio in Little Hadham, Hertfordshire.
So layer up, walk with friends, reconnect with nature, embrace the changing seasons, watch the early sunsets – and snuggle down in the most gorgeous GS knitwear.
I hope you love the collection as much as I do.
All the best, Genevieve x
