Looking for the ultimate winter cover-up to keep you snug, warm and stylish throughout the colder months? Our oversized blanket scarves are designed to be bundled up in, whether you’re sweeping them over your shoulder, wrapping around your head as a hood, or snuggling up on the sofa using one as a blanket. Featuring an eye-catching geometric pattern, these cosy lambswool scarves are one of our favourite staples for your winter wardrobe.
These supremely cosy scarves are knitted in the softest merino lambswool, produced by the first shearing of the merino sheep. Not only is their wool naturally fine and breathable, but its temperature regulating properties keep you warm in cold climates and cool in the heat. The yarn is spun in Yorkshire, before being transported to a small family-run mill in the Scottish Borders that specialises in knitting winter accessories, and finally washed in the pure waters of the Teviot River to enhance the softness of the wool. The jacquard geometric diamond pattern has a tonal reverse, allowing you to wear the scarf both ways to change up the hues.
We envision our blanket scarves being worn and used by a wide variety of different people in unique and innovative ways. First and foremost, they are designed to be a scarf to layer over knitwear or outerwear for extra warmth and to add a stylish flourish to your outfit, but we have greatly enjoyed seeing how different people use and style them. To demonstrate their versatility, we sent scarves to three uniquely inspiring women, to see how they wore them in their day-to-day lives.
Rachel Bottomley, Artist
Artist, Rachel chose our stormy blue geometric lambswool blanket scarf with tones of charcoal grey, stormy blue and elderberry melange to keep her warm throughout the winter months while working in her studio. Whether draped over the back of her chair or wrapped around her neck, the scarf is there to reach for whenever she’s feeling a chill.
“My Genevieve Sweeney lambswool blanket scarf is like a warm hug – exactly what I need to stay cosy through the chilly winter months in my studio.”
Emma Diaz, Furniture Designer & Colour Expert
Furniture designer and colour expert, Emma Diaz opted for our beige geometric lambswool blanket scarf, featuring beautiful hues of beige, Caspian green and grey melange. Alongside her creative work, Emma is a dedicated wild swimmer who indulges in icy plunges all year round. Her oversized scarf has become part of her kit for warming up post-swim.
“The most important ‘kit’ for cold water swimming, especially in winter, is layers (along with a hot drink!). I love my Genevieve Sweeney scarf which always comes with me. The natural fibres of the lambswool not only keep me warm and cosy, but also protect against the bitter winds of winter, which can be rather brutal after the cold water, so it’s incredibly important to bring layers like this!”.
Jessica Stokes, Writer, Floral Designer & Gardener
Writer, floral designer and gardener, Jessica Stokes is also a slow living enthusiast for whom sustainability is a big focus of both her life and her work. Jessica also chose our stormy blue geometric lambswool blanket scarf, wearing it both at work while out cutting seasonal, organic flowers and at home, snuggling up beside the fireplace.
“I have loved wearing my versatile oversized blanket scarf. It holds me like a blanket when I am sat by the fire at home, reading by candlelight which is a welcome autumn ritual that I embrace after a long, bleak day outside. Otherwise I find it is a joy to wear to work. I can throw it over my overalls or workwear jacket with ease, either when I sit and take a moment with a cup of tea in a puddle of autumn sunshine, before returning to work or whilst cutting flowers. It is the perfect solution to cold ears and face – I envelop myself in it, wearing it not only as a scarf, but also as a bonnet or hood”.
