The yarn used to craft our Lea cardigans is spun in Scotland from super-fine lambswool into a textured slub yarn. This is a very time-consuming process, creating an even slub whilst ensuring the highest quality finish. Due to this slow process, only a small amount of yarn is created each year. Genevieve create’s custom marls to showcase the beauty of this textured slub, with a fine lambswool in a spiced deep red melange highlighting the sumptuous details of the yarn.

Here at GS, we see buttons as an integral part of any cardigan. Ours are made from sustainable Codelite and custom-dyed to a deep red by Courtney & Co. – the last button maker in the UK.

The buttons are made from Codelite – a completely natural and biodegradable product created by curing and hardening the naturally occurring proteins found in milk. Codelite first became a staple of button manufacturing in the early twentieth century, and by reviving it Courtney & Co. committed to reducing the amount of plastic within the industry.
The unique button colours are created with eco-friendly dyes that are Oeko-tex standard 100 and AZO-free certified.
